New model with improved features: The Moccamaster Select

The new Moccamaster Select model can do a lot more compared to the predecessor model Moccamaster KBG 741. The new model adapts even better to your needs. With the newly integrated selection button, you can now choose between a full cup of coffee or a half cup of coffee. This prevents brewing unnecessary coffee to be thrown away. Hence the new name Select. Additionally, the rubber ring of the water flow is equipped with holes so that it calcifies less quickly.

The Moccamaster KBG Select is a high-quality filter coffee maker, which boasts being one of the best in its class worldwide - and for good reason. Each machine has been hand-crafted for over 45 years and individually tested by the company Technivorm before it embarks on its way to its new owner.

The KBG Select has a capacity of 1.25 l, which is approximately equivalent to 10 cups of coffee. The brewing time for coffee is only 5 to 6 minutes. During this time, the water is heated to a temperature between 92 °C and 96 °C and dripped over the coffee grounds using the so-called water shower method. Brewing temperature and brewing time are extremely important, as they ensure that the solids in the coffee dissolve optimally and the valuable aromas can develop to the fullest extent. The result is a harmonious balance of acidity and bitterness, promising a special coffee experience.

After 20 minutes, the coffee maker turns off automatically, as coffee tastes best at a temperature between 80 °C and 85 °C. After brewing, it should not be further heated and should not be kept warm for longer than an hour, as this can develop undesirable aromas that spoil the taste experience.
When removing the glass carafe, an automatic drip stop kicks in, preventing liquid from dripping onto the still hot plates. The warming plate is individually adjustable. It features a full circle that maintains a temperature of 80 °C to 85 °C for 6 to 8 cups and a three-quarter circle that can maintain temperature for less than 6 cups. The glass carafe also features a mixing lid that has an integrated funnel. This makes stirring unnecessary before serving; the mixture is better blended, and temperature is maintained longer.

Very energy efficient

The 1450-watt copper heating element of the Moccamaster Select turns off once the water tank is empty. The light in the right switch then goes out.
